The BC Flex-Hone 8 mm (0.315"), grit 170/200 D for surface finishing and deburring is designed for bore sizes between 0.277" and 0.315" (7.04-8.0 mm). Equipped with 2.00" abrasive balls consisting of 170/200 mesh diamond (CD). Excellent for carbide, ceramic, hardened tool steel and heat-treated steel. The 170/200 mesh grit generally offers an Ra finish range of 30 - 40 microinches (.7 - 1 micron).

Diameter range:

Standard sizes from 4 mm to 914 mm for almost any application, from small precision work to machining large cylinders

Abrasive types:

Silicon carbide (SC): For standard materials such as mild steel, stainless steel and cast iron. Excellent for aggressive material processing and fast stock removal.
Aluminum oxide (AO): Ideal for softer metals such as aluminium, brass and bronze. Protects the material and avoids unnecessary wear.
Zirconium aluminum oxide (Z-grain): Especially for steels with a higher carbon content or for applications that require a longer service life.
Diamond: For particularly hard materials such as hardened tool steel, carbide and ceramics.

Grit options:

Flex-Hone® offers 14 grit options that can be selected depending on the desired surface finish:

Coarse grit (20 - 80): Ideal for intensive material removal and robust deburring

Fine (320 - 600): Suitable for a smooth and precise finish
Ultra-fine (800): For high-precision work and extremely smooth surfaces

Recommended application parameters

Speed: The optimum speed depends on the tool diameter and ranges from 60 to 1,200 rpm. Larger tools work at lower speeds, while finer grit sizes require higher speeds.
Lubricants: The use of Flex-Hone® oil or a light motor oil is recommended for a long service life and an even surface. Lubricants reduce heat development and prevent sanding particles from sticking together.
Processing time: The typical processing time is 5 to 60 seconds, depending on the desired finish and the material to be processed.
