The BC Flex-Hone 25.4 mm (1"), extra fine LA grit for surface finishing and deburring is designed for bore sizes between 0.939" and 1.000" (23.85-25.4 mm). It has grinding balls made of 1000/1200 grit Levigated Alumina (LA). Excellent for final polishing of many materials. The 1000/1200 grit generally provides an Ra finish range of 3 - 10 microinches (.05 - .2 microns).

Standard sizes from 4 mm to 914 mm for almost any application, from small precision work to machining large cylinders

Abrasive types:

Silicon carbide (SC): For standard materials such as mild steel, stainless steel and cast iron. Excellent for aggressive material processing and fast stock removal.

Aluminum oxide (AO):

Zirconium aluminum oxide (Z-grain): Especially for steels with a higher carbon content or for applications that require a longer service life.
Diamond: For particularly hard materials such as hardened tool steel, carbide and ceramics.

Grit options:

Flex-Hone® offers 14 grit options that can be selected depending on the desired surface finish:

Coarse grit (20 - 80): Ideal for intensive material removal and robust deburring
Medium (120 - 240): For standard surface finishes with a fine structure
Fine (320 - 600): Suitable for a smooth and precise finish
Ultra-fine (800): For high-precision work and extremely smooth surfaces

Recommended application parameters

Speed: The optimum speed depends on the tool diameter and ranges from 60 to 1,200 rpm. Larger tools work at lower speeds, while finer grit sizes require higher speeds
Lubricants: The use of Flex-Hone® oil or a light motor oil is recommended for a long service life and an even surface. Lubricants reduce heat development and prevent sanding particles from sticking together.
