The BC Flex-Hone 14 mm (0.552"), grit 120 SC for surface finishing and deburring is designed for bore sizes between 0.501" and 0.551" (12.73-14.0 mm). It has grinding balls made of silicon carbide (SC), grit size 120. Excellent for steel, stainless steel, cast iron and other softer ferrous materials. The 120 grit generally offers an Ra finish range of 35 - 50 microinches (.9 - 1.4 microns).

Abrasive types:

Silicon carbide (SC): For standard materials such as mild steel, stainless steel and cast iron. Excellent for aggressive material processing and fast stock removal.

Aluminum oxide (AO):

Zirconium aluminum oxide (Z-grain): Especially for steels with a higher carbon content or for applications that require a longer service life.
Diamond: For particularly hard materials such as hardened tool steel, carbide and ceramics.

Flex-Hone® offers 14 grit options that can be selected depending on the desired surface finish:

Coarse grit (20 - 80): Ideal for intensive material removal and robust deburring
Medium (120 - 240): For standard surface finishes with a fine structure
Fine (320 - 600): Suitable for a smooth and precise finish
Ultra-fine (800): For high-precision work and extremely smooth surfaces

Recommended application parameters

Speed: The optimum speed depends on the tool diameter and ranges from 60 to 1,200 rpm. Larger tools work at lower speeds, while finer grit sizes require higher speeds
Lubricants: The use of Flex-Hone® oil or a light motor oil is recommended for a long service life and an even surface. Lubricants reduce heat development and prevent sanding particles from sticking together.
